BlackBerry Support Shortcuts
In doing demos of our product 'Remote360' ( http://www.remote360.mobi ), I frequently get asked for a list of the shortcuts we use for BlackBerry support. There are a lot of keystroke combinations and support features on the BlackBerry devices that aren't well documented or well-known. Below are some examples of some common ones that we use as well as some tips for other common BlackBerry device support issues:
To access the BlackBerry Event Log:
ALT-lglg - hold down ALT and hit the letters 'lglg' in sequence

From this screen, you can then click menu and 'Clear Log' for slower devices and 'Copy Day's Contents' to send off to RIM support or for analysis offline.
To show the db level instead of the bars for signal strength and toggle:
ALT-nmll - from the home screen (an easy way to remember this is 'no more little lines' or 'need my little lines')
To start a slow sync from the device calendar:
Open Calendar options and then type 'sync' - this will initiate a slow sync with the server from the device
To reset the calendar and erase it from the device and reload it from the server:
Open Calendar options and then type 'rset' - this will prompt you to ask : Continue? Yes/No . Once you click 'Yes' the Calendar will reset from the server
To access the syncing menu from the enterprise activations screen:
ALT-cnfg - this will open the sync menu where you can turn off wireless sync and save. if you go back in to this menu and turn wireless sync back on, it will re-sync your device including contacts, etc, with the server
To see if IT policies are enabled on a device and to see the data usage and voice usage:
Open options-device-device and status and type 'buyr' - this will display a few additional items like 'Data Usage', 'Voice Usage', and 'IT Policy' at the bottom of the status screen.
To do a soft reset (reboot) on a device:
ALT-Right Shift-DEL - similar to a CTRL-ALT-DEL on a pc, this will reboot the device when you hold keys down
To get to the 'Help Me!' screen:
ALT-Shift-H from anywhere. This screen displays useful device information like versions, signal strength, memory free, battery level, etc.
To re-register a device on the network:
Open options-device-advanced system settings-host routing table and then click the BlackBerry button (menu button) and select 'Register Now' from the menu. This will re-register the device on the network and can be useful to do when travelling
I hope you find these useful when doing BlackBerry support and if you have any questions, feel free to contact us here at Corus360. This list is definitely not a complete one and there are a lot of other great support tips available, but is intended to go over some of the more common shortcuts we use.
