DR Strategy: Are you doing enough?

The business world we live in today is dynamic and ever changing.  Companies grow organically and by acquisition.  Companies are broken up and sold off due to the challenges of today’s economy.  How does this environment impact disaster recovery?

As an IT and DR professional, you must be nimble and dynamic to match your ever changing corporate landscape.  The challenge facing many DR professional s today is to keep current, as well as be proactive in your DR strategy as the business changes.  There are many factors to consider when embarking on the task of updating your existing environment; the application stack, tiers for the different applications in the current business requirements, the hardware environment, and RTO’s and RPO’s to name a few.

An assessment of the environment may need to be done.  This will allow the DR team to study the environment based on current requirements and make changes accordingly.  The infrastructure of today may be vastly different than the one that evolves from acquisitions, purchases or restructuring.  Taking the time to conduct an accurate evaluation will pay dividends when an actual disaster does occur.

Take the time now to find out if you are doing enough to match the changes in your DR program to the changes in your business.  Don’t Wait!
